NGAMUMU (FOR MOTHERS)

Ngamumu (For Mothers) is a creative and cultural project that supports mothers, their babies and families during the first 1000 days. Artists Lia Pa’apa’a (Samoan/Luiseño Native American) and Merindi Schrieber (Kuku Yalanji) and Johannah Maza (Yidinji/Meriam Mer/Irish) work across art forms and methodologies with communities exploring ancestral practices to relearn, reinvigorate and reimagine arts and cultural practices that we can incorporate as modern mamas so that our babies can have a holistic foundation that is inclusive of cultural practices.

Ngamumu is currently engaging with community in several different ways including community workshops, festival and conference installations and community projects.  We are committed to finding ways for community to tell their stories so that we can learn and share the experiences of the first 1000 days.
